WCP Employee Spotlight: Diana Greene
Up for the Challenge, 14 years and Going Strong
This month we’re shining a spotlight on Diana Greene, a Credit Manager in our Redding Division. Diana has worked for WCP Solutions for fourteen years, hired in April of 2006. Before WCP, she worked for an aviation company that actually purchased their shipping supplies from our local WCP team, when a job posting came up at Diana applied and the rest is history. She started as a Credit/AR Manager in Redding and A/P and HR rep were added to her job responsibilities over the course of a few months after starting. Over the years at WCP, Diana has learned all kinds of skills from customer service to order entry and will-call orders. She’s even done a little buying over the years when necessary. In short, she’s open to whatever the day brings and up for the challenge. When there is an overflow of projects she is a person we can count on!
Diana’s Personal Story
Born in Alturas, California, Diana moved to Broken Bow, Oklahoma and lived there in her early childhood. Years later, her family moved to New Pine Creek, Oregon, a small farming community in South Eastern Oregon. Over time, she ended up in Redding and has been there ever since.
Being a mother is Diana’s greatest “hobby” in her personal life but she also loves to work in her gardens. She purchased a vineyard and a winery a few years back, which has become a new passion for learning about winemaking and of course, tasting all the wines. Diana also enjoys boating, waterboarding, and sailboarding too on the two lakes close by and loves to go snowboarding and skiing in the Winter.
Q+A with Diana
What’s your typical day at WCP look like?
The first thing is checking the credit queue and getting the drivers what is needed to get them on the road for the day. A cup of coffee is always nice at this point. Then I tackle my emails which usually takes an hour to an hour and a half to get through. There are lots of in and out’s in the credit queue most days to keep the orders flowing. I also work on printing and processing the invoices for our vendors and am checking in with our customers on account issues too. Busy days make the time go by quickly!
What’s your favorite part of working at WCP?
My workdays are always a challenge and I like that. Working and talking with our customers is a highlight every day for me too.
What’s one lesson that your current position has taught you?
Patience. In credit: “something is always better than nothing.” Be kind – no matter how negative someone else may be on the other end.
What’s one of your favorite products that WCP carries?
Grill Cleaner! We BBQ a lot here in Redding and everything tastes better on a clean grill.
Do you have any tips to offer customers when they order from WCP?
We really do believe that the customer and the service provided to them is the #1 priority.
Can you share 1 or 2 favorite memories or stories while working at WCP?
I was given the nickname of “The Velvet Hammer” by our Division Manager in 2007. My success as a credit manager was working out well and I have great memories of the trips to Seattle, meeting so many people from our credit departments at each division and people in other departments. There are so many great people at WCP!
