Sustainable-Minded Products
At WCP we partner with suppliers to source products that are sustainably focused and meet the needs of our customers. We have a wide offering of high recycled-content items, many of which are even compostable. Paper and packaging happen to be some of the most recycled products in the world and are two of the most popular products that we offer to our customers. In 2019 we partnered with Neenah Paper to create the Power of Green, a guide to help designers and printers easily find highly-recycled fine paper options. We also recently added Astrolite PC100 to our coated paper offering, which is a 100% domestically made coated sheet from Monadnock Paper.
Fine paper and corrugated are far from the only sustainable item we carry in our warehouses. The Eco Six Pack Ring (E6PR) is a recycled and compostable can carrier for the beverage industry and is now being used by some of our favorite local breweries. For your janitorial team, Natur-Bag is a 100% compostable can liner which helps to divert food waste from our landfills. For restaurants, we can help with compostable food to-go containers and many other items that your business might need. And let’s not forget about recycled toilet paper too!
Product Solutions that Reduce Waste
Being green doesn’t just mean using recycled products, it also means creating less waste and being more efficient. Our account managers work with our customers every day to find sustainable solutions that make sense for their needs. For example, our packaging experts can help you downgauge your stretch film to a higher performance product that is more efficient, leading to not only less waste, but cost savings as well.
Perhaps the cleaning product you are currently using isn’t quite suited for the job and causes you to use more water or chemicals (surfactants) than absolutely needed. We can help you find the right product for your job and our equipment team can even help you automate some processes to eliminate human error from the equation, making your product consumption even less wasteful.
For our customers in the printing and packaging business we have our in-house converting plants to create Perfect Fit® custom sheets and rolls exactly to the sizes that our customers need. For customers, this eliminates wasted material and it reduces press time, making them more efficient and saving money because you only pay for the materials you actually need.
Our Daily Practices
At WCP Solutions, our in-house manufacturing team converts paper to make Perfect Fit® custom sheets, custom wound rolls, and envelopes. The excess paper from the converting and manufacturing process is then set aside sorted by grade recycled and given a new life as a recycled product at some point in the future.
We operate our 14 distribution centers totaling over one million square feet as sustainable as possible. All facilities use motion sensor lighting and the latest lighting technologies.
Over the past three years we have invested heavily in new delivery equipment including box trucks and tractor trailers. Of the 100 plus trucks we have in the market daily, we have replaced 80% of the fleet with new vehicles meeting CARB standards and have decreased our fuel consumption by 15%. We are using smaller, more efficient vehicles for small multiple deliveries on campus settings. Our updated fleet is much safer with a CSA safety rating at the 26% threshold, which is the best in the industry. Our new fleet also has provided improved ergonomics for our employees.
We Support Green Certifications and Sustainably Minded Organizations
We partner with and support sustainably-focused organizations like Green Seal Certified and BPI Certified to bring the most sustainable products and services that we can to our customers and communities. We also recently announced our partnership with Carbon Balanced Paper North America. This program, in partnership with the World Land Trust (WLT), allows businesses to reduce and offset the carbon impact of their paper and printed communications, thereby helping to offset forestation worldwide and protecting threatened habitats.
