Customer Story — Molly Moon Homemade Ice Cream
Molly Moon Homemade Ice Cream has one goal, to make the world a better place, one scoop of ice cream at a time. Sustainability and happiness is at the core of everything they do, which leads them to partner with local farmers and producers, sourcing 90% of their ingredients right here in the Pacific Northwest.
Our relationship with Molly Moon began in 2012 when they tasked us to find sustainable products for their ice cream shops. Molly Moon wanted all of the items that their customers touched in the store to be environmentally friendly, including: pints, lids, ice cream cups, spoons, taster spoons, shake cups, straws, napkins and to-go bags.
WCP works with a wide variety of sustainable foodservice packaging manufacturers, allowing us to help Molly Moon find packaging options to make every scoop of ice cream both environmentally conscious and affordable. However, when it came to sourcing a compostable ice cream pint, one didn’t exist, but that didn’t stop us!
Molly Moon’s WCP Account Manager and sales team searched high and low meeting with manufacturers to ensure their products are 100% compostable. A possible solution was found in a slightly larger compostable 18oz food container.
So the creative folks at Molly Moon got to work on rebranding their pint as a “scoopers’ pint” since each pint has a little extra ice cream, 2oz to be exact! While their pints are unique in shape, we are sure no one is complaining they get to have a few extra delicious bites. Now Molly Moon is one of the only local companies putting their pint-sized ice cream into 100% compostable packaging.
We are proud to support our customer Molly Moon in achieving one of their many sustainable goals as they make the world a better and tastier place.
